Objective: To establish a method for the determination of the content of p-cymene in volatile oil from Fruits of Alpinia oxyphylla. Methods: The Gas chromatographic analysis was performed using HP-5 capillary column(30m×0.32mm×0.25μm); highly pure N2 was adopted as carrier gas at the flow rate of 1mL•min-1; the inlet port and the FID detector temperature was 200℃ and 280℃ respectively; the column temperature was 60-160℃ and rose by program. The content was calculated with external standard. Results: p-cymene has good liner relationship in the concentration range of 0.43-4.30 mg•mL-1(r=0.9999); the average recovery was 97.1%, RSD(n=6) was 0.6%. Conclusion: The method is simple, accurate and reproducible. It can be applied for the determination of the content of p-cymene in volatile oil from Fruits of Alpinia oxyphylla Miq..
