Abstract objective: To fabricate multi-wall carbon nanotubes modified glassy carbon electrode (MWNT/GCE), the electrochemical behavior and determination of breviscapine on the electrode were investigated. Methods: Cyclic voltammetry and differential pulse voltammetry. Results: The oxidation peak current of breviscapine inereased remarkably at the MWNT/GCE in contrast to that at the bare GCE. One pair of redox peaks of breviscapine at MWCNT/GCE was obtained by cyclic voltammetry in phosphatic buffer solution (pH=7.0) with 0.19 V of Epa and 0.07 V of Epc. The oxidiztion peak is linearly related to the concentration of breviscapine in the range of 2×10-7-6×10-5 mol·L-1 and the detection limit reach of to 2×10-7 mol·L-1. The RSD(n=5) was 0.37 % for breviscapine. The average recovery was 97.5 %–103.1 %. Conclusion: The MWMT/GCE exhibits eatalytic activity to the oxidation of breviscapine. The proposed method is accurate, sensitive and convenient for the determination of the conten of breviscapine.
