Ion mobility spectrometry(IMS)is an analysis detection technology which an separate gas phase ions in the weak electric field at the atmospheric pressure,with high sensitivity,rapid analysis and portability.IMS has broad application prospects,which can be used for drug quality control and the cleanness validation of manufacturing equipment in the pharmaceutical industry.This review introduced the basic principle of IMS and its progress on the instruments,and further focused on its various applications in the pharmaceutical field.
