Oxytocin as a preferred medication for labour induction has been used in clinical for many years.This article outlines the structure,distribution and physiological function of oxytocin and oxytocin receptor.A series of oxytocin analogues modified in different positions of oxytocin structure and different biological activity of these analogues are described.The application and prospects at of these compounds in clinical practice are also summarized.
