Objective: To establish an RP-HPLC method for the determination of ursolic acid and oleanolic acid in different parts of Prunella vulgaris L.. Methods: The determination was carried out with SHIMADZU VP-ODS column(4.6 mm×250 mm, 5 μm), using acetonitrile -methanol-water-ammonium acetate(69∶16∶15∶1) solution as mobile phase at a flow rate of 1 mL·min-1 and the detection wavelength was at 210 nm. Results: The linear ranges of ursolic acid and oleanolic acid were 0.780-6.240 μg and 0.756-6.048 μg, respectively. The average recoveries(n=6) of ursolic acid and oleanolic acid were 99.2 % with RSD 0.69 % and 99.1% with RSD 1.2 %, respectively. Conclusion: The method is simple, accurate, reproducible and can be used for determining ursolic acid and oleanolic acid in different parts of Prunella vulgaris L..
