Objective:To develop a non-aqueous reverse phase high performance liquid chromatography (NARP)-TOF/MS method for the separation and identification of retinyl esters in fish liver oil.Methods:The retinyl esters were separated on a C18(250 mm×4.6 mm,5 μm) column with acetonitrile-isopropanol (8:2) as the mobile phase.The structures were elucidated by comparing with reference substances and by ESI+-TOF/MS.Results:Retinyl acetate and retinyl palmitate were found in cod liver oil. 15 kinds of retinyl esters were found in tuna liver oil,with retinyl oleate,retinyl palmitate,retinyl palmitoleate,eicosapentenoic acid (EPA) retinyl ester and docosahexenoic acid (DHA) claiming the higher contents.Conclusion:The established method is useful for the separation and identification of retinyl esters in fish liver oil,thus providing reference for quality control of the product.
